A city of cats

Kitty City

135 drawings and a book to put them in

A canal running through Kitty City at night, lit globes strung between the towers and a cat watching from a balcony

I wrote the first book of a story where Mersh reluctantly saves a kitty civilization. Then I had to work out what the place looked like, which is most of what is on this page.

A city built for cats, so everything in it is the wrong size for a man — the canals, the transit, the towers with the lights strung between them. There are scientists. There is a cat with a flamethrower. Some of them smoke.

I am still drawing the place. What is up here came out of the sketchbooks first and there is a lot more of it still in them. The book is over on the stories page, and Mersh has his own.

Working the place out. The streets, the machines, the cats and what they carry. Colour first, then the ink.

The people in this are caricatures of broadcasters. The city, the cats and everything that happens to them came out of my own head. The book is on the stories page, Mersh is on his, the strip is Pussy Wrangler, and the rest of the cartoons are in rayraytoons.
