Over the hedge
Mersh crouched low with a pistol held ready, a cat riding his shoulder and gripping his collar, with clipped hedging behind them and smoke drifting across the top of the sheet.
A tight waist-up study on a diagonal, the gun hand nearest the viewer and the head set back, so the weapon leads. The hedge is drawn only at the right, leaving the rest of the sheet bare.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Hatching used to model the face and the folds of the shirt against flat solid black beneath the figure. The foliage is built from small repeated hooks and left unresolved at the edges.
Ink on paper.
