Dinner date
A woman with a dark bob in a green top and purple skirt stands large in the foreground, a bag over her shoulder and one hand held out, while Mersh waits at the kerb in the middle distance beside his Buick, outside a building with a tree in front of it.
A steep scale contrast: she is cropped at the thigh and fills the left half, he is drawn at a quarter of her size and set back at the centre right. The car anchors the middle ground and the building closes the top.
Emerald and violet through her clothes against the coral of his shirt and the indigo of the car, over a warm stone ground. The two figures carry the only saturated colour.
Ink line with washes laid flat inside it, the foreground figure modelled and the background flattened. The tree is dabbed in wet and allowed to bleed.
