Mersh leaping clear of the ground firing a rifle, a cat flying overhead in the same direction, and a skull-faced creature with a long jaw rearing at the right of the sheet.
Everything moves left to right on one long diagonal, with a solid black band running behind the figures to tie them together. The creature's head is the one thing drawn against the white, so it reads as nearer.
Violet and plum through Mersh against the warm tan and cream of the creature, with the muzzle flash in cadmium orange. The black band is the only neutral.
Washes over ink with the figures modelled and the background left as flat black. The flame is the only wet-into-wet passage and everything else is painted inside the line.
Watercolour and ink on paper.
