1985 Buick Grand National

Mersh driving the Buick hard toward the viewer, one hand on the wheel and a cigarette in his mouth, his hair blown back. The make is hand-lettered at the right of the sheet as 1985 BUICK GRAND NATIONAL, with BGR lettered behind him.
A low head-on view with the car's grille filling the bottom third and the driver leaning out above it, so the machine is given more of the sheet than the man. Speed is drawn as long horizontal strokes running off both edges.
Indigo and violet through the car against the coral and orange of his shirt, over a warm sand road. The lettering is picked out in magenta and orange.
Tight ink drawing of the car with transparent washes glazed over the panels so the bodywork keeps its gloss, against far looser handling in the figure. The road is spattered and dragged.
Watercolour and ink on paper.
Signed rayrayisHAPPY at the lower right.
