Pancakes
A diner counter where cats in uniform carry stacks of pancakes while Mersh sits at the table — cigarette in his mouth, syrup running off it — with the whole surface in front of him covered in handguns and loose ammunition rather than breakfast.
The cats come in from the left at head height and Mersh sits at the right, with the gun-covered table running the full width beneath both. The two halves of the joke are stacked vertically: service above, armoury below.
Black ink over graphite on white. No colour.
Clean contour with very little fill, the pancakes and the weapons given equal care, which is the point. Pencil remains visible through the figures and has not been cleaned up.
Ink over pencil on paper.
