Cat Daddy at home

Mersh sprawled across a couch in his glasses surrounded by cats — one leaping clean through the air above him, others on the arm and the floor — with a bottle of Red Breast on the coffee table, takeaway containers, a remote and a plaque reading CAT DADDY.
A wide interior with the couch running the full width and Mersh laid along it, the table and its clutter forming a second horizontal band beneath. The leaping cat is the only diagonal and it crosses both bands.
Black ink over graphite on white. No colour.
Open contour throughout with solid black reserved for the wall behind, so the whole room reads as a lit stage. The still life on the table is drawn with more care than the man on the couch.
Ink over pencil in a spiral-bound sketchbook.
Dated 100724 at the upper right.
