Mersh seen from below, running forward with a pistol in one hand and a rifle slung across his back, two cats clinging to his shoulders and a third at his hip. Drawn as a character study rather than a scene.
A low viewpoint that puts the belly and the fists nearest the viewer and the head small at the top, exaggerating his bulk. The cats are placed to break the silhouette at both shoulders.
Black ink over graphite on white. No colour.
Inked over a pencil lay-in that is still visible at the edges, with the weapons and the cats' faces finished and the legs left open. Hatching is used for the shadowed underside of the figure and nowhere else.
