Mersh and the train
Mersh standing at the mouth of a tunnel looking back over his shoulder, a cat at his feet, with the front of a train bearing down behind him drawn as a blaze of white streaks out of solid black.
The figure is pushed to the left edge and the train's face fills the rest of the sheet, far larger than him. His backward glance is the only thing connecting the two, and the cat anchors the bottom of the frame.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Heavy brush work throughout, the train built by dragging a loaded brush so the white of the paper tears through it as speed lines. The figure is drawn in finer line and left mostly white, so he reads as still against all that movement.
