Symbiosis
A hairless cat drawn head-on in a heavy knitted cowl that swallows its whole body, wrinkled face and oversized ears set against a black ground.
A formal frontal portrait, the head in the upper third and the mass of knitwear filling everything below, so the animal appears to be sitting inside the garment rather than wearing it. Black panels close both edges.
Black ink on white. No colour.
The knit is the set piece — every stitch drawn as a separate mark — against the fine wrinkled line of the skin, so wool and animal are rendered in two entirely different hands. The eyes are left as bare paper.
Ink on paper.
