Cat on a smoke break and a Lizard Ranger

Two unrelated studies on one sheet: a cat's head in close-up at the left taking a cigarette break, and at the right a ranger in a wide-brimmed hat riding a long-legged lizard as a mount, pistol drawn.
The cat's head is cropped by the left edge and drawn at portrait scale, while the rider and lizard are a third the size at the right against a brushed black ground. The two are not related in scale or in setting, which is what marks the sheet as world-building rather than a scene.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Fine stippled hatching for the cat's fur against flat brushed black behind the rider, so the two halves of the sheet are worked in entirely different registers. The lizard's limbs are drawn in clean open contour with nothing filled.
Ink in a sketchbook.
Initialled at the lower right.
