A gap between two mountains with a track running up into it, scrub on both sides, and cloud lying along the ridgeline above.
The two mountain masses lean inward and meet near the centre, making a V that the track runs straight into. Everything in the picture points at that gap; it is the most directed composition on the wall.
Violet-blue in the shadowed mountain faces against ochre and gold where the light catches the crests. The sky is a green-turquoise, the valley floor sap green with rust accents.
The mountain flanks are stroked downward along their own slopes so the paint direction is the landform's direction. The sky is scrubbed in circling strokes; the scrub is dabbed.
Oil on board. Thickly loaded, with strong impasto on the lit crests. The board's edges are painted white.
No signature visible within the painted area.
