Six palms in cobalt blue against a rose and coral ground, evenly spaced and seen whole, from crown to the bottom of the trunk.
The palms are set across the width at varying heights, the tallest at the left and right so the row dips in the middle. The ground is graded from dusty rose at the top to hot coral at the base.
The simplest on the wall — one blue against one warm field. Cobalt palms on rose, coral and vermilion, with nothing else in the picture at all.
The ground is scrubbed in broad passes with heavy incised marks scored into it, which show as paler scratches. The palms are flat opaque shapes, their fronds struck out from a single centre.
Oil. Flexible unstretched support, the surface scored and creased, the paint thin enough that both read through.
Along the bottom edge, raypatrick, in ochre capitals, widely spaced across the full width.
