Three moored boats seen from the dock looking down, their bows toward the viewer, with masts rising behind and the far shore beyond the water.
Upright, with the boats stacked diagonally from the lower left to the centre right and the dock running out of the bottom corner. The masts are thin verticals that carry the eye up into a sky taking the upper half.
Periwinkle and violet in the sky and water, against white and cream hulls. A band of true cerulean marks the open water; the dock is ochre and its shadow deep blue.
The hulls are flat pale shapes with a single dark stroke beneath for the waterline, and almost no interior detail. The masts are drawn last as single thin pulls, white and black, over finished paint.
Gouache on paper. Matte and opaque. Unpainted margins all round.
Lower right, raypatrick, in dark red over the dock, letters touching.
It is so much fun to visit the Marina in Redondo Beach. The boats lined up with the skyline in the distance allow the imagination to roam. It is easy to romanticize the marina and once I almost bought a boat.
