A marina from the water's edge — moored yachts with their masts up, a dinghy and a skiff in the near water, and a dock running back to the right.
The masts make a forest of verticals across the whole upper half, with no two quite parallel, and the dock cuts in from the right as a strong diagonal. The two small boats sit low and centrally and are the only things given in full.
Cool and silvery — lavender, pewter and dove grey in the sky and water, with white hulls. Small notes of teal, red and ochre among the boats break it up.
The masts are single thin pulls of the brush, dozens of them, drawn last over finished paint. The hulls are flat white shapes with one dark stroke beneath each for the shadow.
Gouache on paper. Matte and opaque; the masts sit cleanly over the sky without disturbing it. Unpainted margins all round.
Along the lower edge, raypatrick, in ochre over the water, letters widely spaced.
