Three palms against a ground of yellow ochre and burnt orange, one at each side cropped by the edge and one standing whole at the centre.
The central palm is lower than the two flanking it, so the three crowns make a shallow dip across the picture. The trunks are thin and drop almost to the bottom edge; the ground around them is open and heavily worked.
Cadmium yellow at the upper left moving through orange to a rose-copper at the right. The palms are a deep blue-black; one at the right carries a cobalt cast where the ground cools behind it.
The ground is laid in broad sweeping passes with scored lines cut into it and fine spatter thrown across. The crowns are solid shapes with their fronds struck outward; the trunks are single drawn lines.
Oil. Flexible unstretched support, with incised marks and spatter across the whole surface. Thin, the weave reading through.
Lower right, initials only, small and in dark paint.
