Six palms silhouetted against a ground of yellow above and green below, their crowns clustered along the upper half and their trunks dropping through the green.
The crowns are spaced across the width at staggered heights, three at the left and three at the right with an open gap at the centre. The trunks are thin drawn lines; the lower half is given entirely to worked ground.
Cadmium yellow at the top giving way to emerald and a sharp acid green below. The palms are blue-black. The two colours meet in the upper third without a drawn boundary.
The ground is scrubbed in circling sweeps with dense spatter thrown over it, concentrated in the green. The palms sit flat and opaque on top; the trunks are single continuous lines drawn last.
Oil. Flexible unstretched support. Thin and layered, with spatter and brush direction forming the whole surface incident.
Lower right, initials only, small and in dark paint.
Vibrant tropical colors dance against the strength of the palm silhouettes. I always love hanging these in a new room and feeling how the energy changes. The painting brings so much vitality and joy.
