Palms in silhouette against a burning amber ground, seen from below so the trunks rise the full height and the crowns are cropped by the top edge.
Upright, in two panels, with the join running vertically just left of centre — the trunks cross it without interruption, which is the diptych's point. The crowns cluster along the upper quarter and the trunks fan outward below.
Amber, ochre and burnt orange throughout, brightest at the centre and deepening toward the edges. The palms are near-black with a green cast where they thin.
The ground is layered and worked wet, with circular pooling and spatter left as part of the surface. The trunks are single long drawn strokes and the fronds are struck out quickly from each crown.
Oil, in two panels. Flexible unstretched supports, thin and layered, with the texture of pooling and spatter legible throughout.
No signature visible within the painted area.
