A dry wash running back into the picture between low banks, with flowering scrub on both sides and a blue range closing the distance.
The pale sand of the wash cuts in from the lower left and leads to the centre, where the banks pinch it closed. Everything else is arranged either side of that channel, and the mountains lie flat behind it.
Pink and dove-grey in the sand bed, chocolate and maroon in the banks, cobalt in the far hills. The scrub is a strong green carrying small hot notes of orange-red flower.
The banks are cut in with a square-loaded brush in long horizontal strokes; the scrub is dabbed over them. The red flowers are individual flecks, put in last and left untouched.
Oil on board. Moderately loaded, with brush direction visible throughout and a few ridges in the foreground. The board's edges are painted white.
No signature visible within the painted area.
