A blue mountain ridge across the middle distance, a dark red slope falling toward the viewer, and a band of desert scrub along the bottom.
Three diagonals in parallel: the mountain crest, the red slope below it, the line of scrub. Each runs down slightly to the left, so the whole picture tilts the same way and the sky opens at the upper right.
Cerulean sky with white cloud, violet-blue mountains, and a maroon mid-ground that is the darkest and warmest thing in the picture. The scrub below is green with flecks of orange.
The mountain is laid in broad flat planes with a fully loaded brush; the red slope is stroked downward so the direction of the hill is the direction of the paint. Small upright flicks of green and orange finish the foreground.
Oil on board. Thick, with raised ridges along the ridgeline and in the clouds. The board's edges are painted white.
No signature visible within the painted area.
