A single palm on a street corner, seen from its base looking up, with a crosswalk at the foot, an apartment block to the left and a low white building to the right.
Upright, with the trunk running the full height slightly left of centre and the crown cropped against the top. The street falls away behind it on a diagonal, and the row of smaller palms repeats the main trunk at diminishing scale.
A periwinkle sky with cobalt cloud, against the violet and mauve of the buildings. The crown is deep green; the one warm note is the ochre of the trunk where the light strikes it.
The trunk is a single tapering stroke with the texture of the bark struck across it in short dark marks. The crown is a dozen flat dabs with sky left showing between them; the crosswalk is five white strokes.
Gouache on paper. Matte and opaque. Unpainted margins all round.
Lower left, raypatrick, in red-brown, letters touching.
