Downtown towers seen from street level, one glass tower catching the sun between two in shadow, with a yellow cab and a few figures crossing at the foot.
Upright and compressed: three buildings fill almost the whole sheet and the sky is reduced to a sliver. The lit tower runs top to bottom slightly right of centre; the street is a shallow band at the base, and everything leans inward above it.
Violet and plum in the shadowed facades against cobalt and white in the lit glass, with ochre on the lower building. The cab is a single cadmium yellow and is the only saturated warm note.
The facades are built from rows of short horizontal dashes that read as storeys without drawing a single window. The figures are two marks each; the cab is one flat shape with a dark stroke beneath.
Gouache on paper. Matte and opaque, the lit glass laid solid over the darker ground. Unpainted margins all round.
Along the lower edge, raypatrick, in red-orange over the pavement, letters widely spaced.
