Three palms in white against a crimson ground, the two at the left given in full and the third cropped by the right edge.
Wide and horizontal, with the palms placed at three different heights and sizes so the eye moves right and downward. The ground behind them darkens toward the corners and lifts to near-white where the crowns sit.
Scarlet and crimson throughout, deepening to maroon and a bruised violet-blue at the right. The palms are a flat chalk white. Two colours only, and they carry the whole picture.
The crowns are built from short white strokes radiating outward, loaded and dry, so the red shows through between them. The ground is scrubbed in broad passes with incised marks scratched into it.
Oil. Flexible unstretched support, with creases and scored lines in the surface. Thin, with the weave visible through the red.
No signature visible within the painted area.
