A saguaro standing against a burning sky, with more cacti small and dark across a flat behind it and a low violet range at the horizon.
The cactus is placed left of centre and runs from the ground to two thirds height — a single black vertical against horizontal bands of cloud. The smaller cacti repeat it at diminishing scale to the right, setting the distance.
Scarlet and vermilion through the upper sky, dropping to gold and lemon at the horizon, with two patches of surviving teal. The land is a flat purple-black.
The sky is stroked horizontally in long bands of unmixed colour, red laid directly against blue with no transition. The cactus is one straight loaded pull of dark paint from top to bottom.
Oil on board. Thickly painted, with ridges standing proud across the whole sky. The board's edges are painted white.
No signature visible within the painted area.
