Wave barrelling with the tube open

A wave in the act of barrelling, the lip thrown forward and the tube open beneath it, with the sky above worked in warm broken colour.
The wave runs the full width just below centre and the tube opens at the left of middle. The sky above is a flat field of broken horizontal marks and the water below a quieter one, so the wave is the only drawn form.
Ochre, sienna and umber through the sky — warm and unusual for a wave picture — against a face of deep viridian and a trough of indigo. The lip is bare paper.
Transparent washes laid in short horizontal strokes that dry at their own edges, so the sky is a mosaic of marks. The wave face is one loaded pull of green and the foam is reserved paper.
Watercolour on paper. Transparent throughout, with a drawn pencil border and the lights all bare sheet.
Along the lower edge, raypatrick, in dark brown, letters widely spaced.
