The cover art for The Maniak #2, the Maniak kneeling blood-spattered over bodies while a huge blue giant with red laser eyes looms behind him. He is in a visored helmet and layered tan armour, teeth bared, one arm wrapped in a torn red and white banner, crouched low over two sprawled figures on a tiled floor. The giant rises out of the murk behind with both hands open and spread wide, twin red beams crossing from its eyes. A tin cup stands upright at the right.
Upright and built as a cover: the kneeling figure fills the lower two thirds while the giant's head and hands make a wide arc across the top, the gap between its palms framing the helmet. The floor runs out in flat bands to the bottom edge, and brushed lettering is laid into the sky behind and left almost invisible.
Grey-violet murk throughout, the giant in cold blue, the armour in warm tan, and crimson as the only strong note — carried from the right shoulder down across the whole lower half.
Thin washes over ink with the paper left to do the lighting. The giant is painted as flat silhouette shapes so it stays behind, the armour is built from short hatched strokes, and the blood is flicked and then pushed about with the brush.
