The boxing coach
Three figures in a row. A gaunt man stands at the left in trunks lettered COACH, a second in a cowboy hat and long coat holds a cane and asks whether not hitting someone has achieved the desired result, and a bearded man at the right smokes and says nothing.
A frieze of three half-length figures at increasing scale left to right, so the sheet gets heavier as it goes and finishes on the largest head. The balloon arches over all three and ties them together.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Open contour with solid brushed black behind the right-hand figure only, which throws him forward. The lettering is drawn freehand with one word boxed in bold for emphasis.
Ink on paper, drawn as a cartoon for the show.
Signed with the artist's name at the lower right.
