Superkiller Sam's head and shoulders in close-up, the pointed cowl drawn in hard facets with the eye-slits lit red and his teeth bared. The cowl is drawn as a set of hard points — two long ones over the brow, ears swept back — with narrow eye-slits lit red, and the lower face bare, teeth clenched and bared. A cape or collar falls away at the shoulders.
The head is set low and left in a tall white field, turned three-quarters toward the viewer. A solid black rectangle is laid in at the upper right, hard-edged and flat, which gives the face something to sit against and leaves the rest of the sheet empty. Two loose ink arcs at the top left are the only other marks.
Violet and indigo in the cowl, orange and brown in the face, red in the eyes and mouth. Everything else is the paper, plus one block of pure black.
The drawing is fast and angular — every edge of the mask is a straight pull of the pen. The colour is put on in flat facets, one touch each, with no blending between them, and the black is filled in with a marker in visible overlapping strokes.
Watercolour, ink and marker on paper, scanned flat. The black block is opaque and sits on top of everything; the rest is transparent.
