Smash you
A woman calls for help in the club and the strip answers with a parade of borrowed heroes — a caped figure announcing hands off that bodacious booty, a cowled one calling itself the cold fist of justice, a green giant lettering SMASH YOU across its own panel. Mersh closes it by pointing out that the customer paid good money for a lap dance, so what exactly is anyone going to do.
Seven panels, each hero given its own full-height box so the strip reads as a line-up. The last panel drops back to Mersh at ordinary scale with his hands open, which deflates the row of them at once.
Primary comic colour throughout — cobalt, cadmium red, chrome yellow and viridian — deliberately brighter than the rest of the run, with the closing panel in muted green and olive.
Flat poster colour inside heavy ink, with the lettering drawn in block capitals and given a drop shadow. The final panel is painted in the strip's normal looser hand so the parody ends on contact with the real thing.
Watercolour and ink on paper.
