Seascapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

A tall watercolour of fire — a column of scarlet, orange and cadmium yellow running the length of the sheet with plum and oxblood closing on it from both sides.
An extreme upright with no horizon, no object and no scale. The light runs as a band up the middle from the lower right and the darks press in from the edges, so the picture is read as a single vertical movement.
Crimson, vermilion, cadmium orange and lemon through the core, against deep plum, maroon and violet at the margins. There is no cool colour anywhere in it.
Flooded wet and worked colour into colour so nothing has an edge of its own, with darker pigment dropped in while the sheet was running and allowed to spatter and granulate. Nothing is reserved and nothing is corrected.
Watercolour on paper.
No signature visible within the painted area.
