Seascapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Five small watercolour coastal studies across a sketchbook spread — two palms in silhouette at sunset on the left page, and four strips of shoreline, reef and headland on the right.
The left page is one picture, upright, with the palms standing against a flat sea. The right page is four narrow horizontal bands stacked one above another, each a separate study, which makes the spread read as one wide picture against four small ones.
Lilac, rose and pale turquoise through the sunset, with the palms in near-black. The strips opposite run tan, ochre and dove, with teal in the water and small dark rocks stamped over the sand.
Transparent and quick, laid wet so the colours bleed at every join, with the palms and the reef rocks cut in last as flat dark shapes over dry paint.
Watercolour in a sketchbook, five studies across one spread. A studio photograph of a page spread rather than a single picture.
No signature legible at this scale.
