Seascapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

A watercolour of a green headland running out into deep blue water, with two further sheets above it cropped by the frame and a brush laid across the corner.
Seen at an angle so the sheet recedes to the upper right. Within it the land enters from the right as a wedge and the water opens across the whole left, divided by one long diagonal.
Cobalt and ultramarine in the sea, deepening almost to indigo at the foot, against a headland of emerald and bottle green. The shore above is cadmium yellow and ochre — the only warm band.
Laid in long horizontal pulls that dry at their own edges so the water reads as layered bands, with the headland dropped in wet so it bleeds into the band beneath it.
Watercolour on paper, three sheets. A studio photograph of works laid together, not a single picture.
Along the lower edge of each sheet, raypatrick, stamped in small spaced letters.
