Seascapes, Surfing — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

A surfer in silhouette walking the nose of a longboard, seen against a band of sunset laid flat across the sheet.
The sea takes the lower two thirds and the sky the upper third, divided by one hard horizontal. The figure stands just left of centre on that line and is the only incident anywhere in the picture.
Cadmium yellow and orange burning along the horizon with scarlet beneath it and rose above, against a sea of teal, turquoise and cobalt. The figure is a flat sienna shape.
Broad flooded washes laid wet so the colours pass into one another horizontally, with the figure painted in last as a single silhouette over dry paint and never corrected.
Watercolour on paper, with a ruled pencil border.
No signature visible within the painted area.
