Surfing, Seascapes — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Six small framed paintings standing on wooden boxes — a woman carrying a board across the shallows, a paddler on flat green water, two figures on the rocks, a surfer at a point break, and a sunset silhouette on a longboard.
The frames are ranked at different heights and angles with the two largest at the back. Five are wide horizontals built on a level sea; the sunset at the front is the only one where the figure is a silhouette rather than modelled.
Teal, viridian and jade water throughout. The sunset panel breaks the run with cadmium orange, rose and gold, and the boards carry small notes of scarlet and coral.
Transparent and quick, the water laid in horizontal pulls with the foam reserved as bare paper, and each figure built from a few loaded touches with no drawing beneath.
Watercolour on paper, six works in wood frames. A studio photograph of a group of framed works, not a single picture.
Lower edge of several, raypatrick, in pale letters widely spaced.
