Seascapes, Surfing — oil painting by Ray Patrick

A woman walking the nose of a pink longboard across a clean blue wave, seen from behind, with a low coastline on the horizon.
The wave runs as a long diagonal from the lower left to the right edge and the figure stands high on it, right of centre, with her board crossing the picture beneath her. The upper third is flat sea and pale sky.
Cobalt, cerulean and teal throughout with a pale green-cream sky. The board is a dusty rose — the one warm note — and the figure is dark against the light water.
Thick and horizontal, the sea laid in long parallel pulls with the foam dragged across them in broken white. The figure is six or seven loaded touches with no drawing beneath.
Oil on canvas paper with an unpainted margin. Photographed on the studio table with the brushes used.
Lower left, raypatrick, scratched into the wet paint in blue.
