Seascapes, Surfing — oil painting by Ray Patrick

Two surfers standing on the sand with their boards, seen from behind, looking out at a flat grey sea with more figures small in the distance.
The two stand close together just left of centre, cropped at the ankle by their own shadows, and the whole right half of the picture is empty beach. The sea is a flat band across the upper third.
Dove and pale lavender through the sky and sea, with the sand in olive, khaki and bone. The two figures carry turquoise and emerald; their skin is the warmest thing in the picture.
The sand is dragged in long horizontal strokes with the texture of the board breaking the colour. The figures are modelled in a few strokes and the leash is one thin blue line drawn over dry paint.
Oil on canvas board. Moderately loaded with the weave visible; photographed clipped to the studio easel.
Along the lower edge, raypatrick, in blue over the sand, letters widely spaced.
