Seascapes, Surfing — oil painting by Ray Patrick

A surfer crouched on a striped longboard, seen from above and behind as she drops down the face of a green wave.
The board runs across the centre as a long horizontal and the figure crouches above it, so the two make a T at the middle of the picture. The wave face fills the lower left and the open water the upper right.
Emerald and jade through the wave against cerulean in the sky and distance. The board is the only patterned thing in the picture — scarlet, cadmium orange and yellow stripes on cream.
The wave is dragged in long horizontal strokes of several greens laid side by side. The board's stripes are single confident pulls, and the figure is four or five strokes with no drawing beneath.
Oil on canvas board. Moderately loaded with the weave visible at the margins; photographed on the studio easel.
Lower left, raypatrick, in cream over the wave, letters touching and partly cropped.
