Seascapes, Sunsets, Surfing — watercolor painting by Ray Patrick

Two figures on a wet shore at sunset seen from above, one walking and one running, with their reflections and long shadows streaking away across the sand.
A high viewpoint with no horizon at all — the whole sheet is wet sand. The two figures are placed on a diagonal and the shadows run from them to the lower left, which is the only structure in the picture.
Dusty rose, mauve and apricot across the sand with one band of cadmium orange at the lower right. The figures are plum and near-black, and their reflections repeat them in a cooler violet.
Flooded wet and allowed to pool, with the figures stamped in as solid shapes over dry colour and the shadows dragged out from them in long single strokes of a loaded brush.
Watercolour on paper in a sketchbook, with a ruled pencil border.
No signature visible within the painted area.
