Seascapes — oil painting by Ray Patrick

A high mountain seen across a lake, snow lying in its gullies, with a wooded shore in the foreground and a strip of water between.
Three registers — sky, mountain, foreground — with the mountain taking the middle half and its crest running down from the centre to the right. The lake is a thin bright band at the join.
Ultramarine and violet through the rock with snow in bone and pale lavender. The foreground runs olive, rust and emerald, and the lake is a deep teal.
The mountain is built from short flat strokes laid like masonry, each left exactly as it landed, with the snow cut in as separate pale pulls. The foreground is stabbed in thicker, rounder marks.
Oil on canvas board. Strong impasto, the weave visible at the margins.
Lower right, raypatrick, in dark green over the water, letters touching.
