Rough night
Mersh wakes on the office couch with no shoes and a stranger asleep beside him, works out what he took home, and then catalogues the evidence as it comes off — the wig, the spanx, the push-up bra, the false eyelashes, the make-up. A friend asks whether he wants a pig in a blanket. He says sure.
Six panels that run from a wide, empty morning interior into a tight close-up of a wig block on a table, then cut away to two men at a counter seen from behind. The reveal is handled by a still life rather than a face, which is the whole trick of the strip.
Chalky blue and bone through the morning panels against the hot orange and pink of the night before, with the turquoise of the counter closing it.
Thin ink and pale washes in the waking panels, laid much heavier and wetter in the flashback, so the two states of the night are painted differently rather than labelled.
