Red beach cottage above a curving cove

A cove seen from the bluff, a red clapboard beach cottage under a wooded slope at the left, and the surf running up a pale curving beach to the right.
A diagonal composition: the shoreline enters at the lower left and sweeps to the right edge, dividing land from water. The cottage sits at the centre of the left half and is the only built form; the sea opens across the whole right.
Ultramarine and cobalt through the water, deepening in horizontal bands toward the lower right. The slope is emerald and sap green, the sand lavender and bone, and the cottage a strong brick red — the only warm passage in the picture.
Transparent and quick. The sea is laid in overlapping horizontal pulls that dry at their own edges so the water reads as shelving, and the surf is reserved paper rather than lifted paint. The cottage is three flat strokes with its windows struck in dark over them.
Watercolour on paper. Transparent throughout, the lights all bare sheet.
Lower left, RAYRAYISHAPPY, in black over the sand, letters touching.
