Portraits — marker drawing by Ray Patrick

A woman's head seen full face, white hair drawn in open line, her features laid in bands of magenta, cobalt and green against two black panels.
The head is centred and fills the sheet, cropped at the shoulder. Two black rectangles are scrubbed in behind it at either side and stop short of the paper's edge, so the head is framed by darkness rather than set in a space.
Magenta down the centre of the face with cobalt either side and sage green in the neck and jaw. The eyes are amber, the mouth cadmium yellow — no flesh colour anywhere.
Marker in broad vertical strokes that stay separate and never mix, with the drawing cut over them in a fast brush-pen line. The hair is left as bare paper and described by line alone.
Marker and ink in a sketchbook.
No signature visible within the drawn area.
