Pesi in Toronto
Pesi is in Toronto for a date, full of plans — hundreds of movies at his place, something special lined up, an hour to get ready. The date goes exactly as far as the apartment, where he settles in front of a games console and tells her to hush, because he is about to fight Chuck Norris and needs to concentrate.
Six panels. A night-time establishing shot of a clock tower opens it, the middle panels are all anticipation at close range, and then a wide panel gives the whole width to the anticlimax — him on the floor at the screen, her on the couch behind him.
Deep cobalt and midnight blue through the city and the apartment, against the coral and magenta of her coat and hair, with the television the only warm light in the last panel.
Flat night washes over ink, with the interior lit by leaving paper unpainted around the screen rather than by adding highlights.
