Outside the mansion

A sketchbook page, taped off at the edges and part-painted. A gothic mansion with towers and a palm beside it sits across the top; below, a man with a pistol in both hands faces a snarling figure who tells him exactly where to go.
The building occupies a painted rectangle at the back and the two figures are drawn in ink across the foreground, overlapping the painted edge. The confrontation reads against the house rather than inside it.
Grey-blue and sage through the mansion and lawn against bare paper in the figures, with the lettering in orange and red.
The landscape is painted and the figures are left as unpainted ink, which is exactly how far the sheet got. Masking tape holds a clean border on three sides.
Watercolour and ink in a sketchbook, in progress.
Not signed; the sheet is unfinished.
