Subject

A four-panel cartoon drawn off the show. A governor at a lectern delivers a line about how only in this state could the hopes and dreams of a poor, disabled man come true. A reporter asks what the odds were that one day that young man would become governor. Then he asks whether the odds would be one in tree — and gets silence.

Composition

Four panels in a two-by-two grid, with the final panel almost entirely black and the figure small and alone in it. The joke is in the fourth panel's emptiness rather than in anything drawn there.

Palette

Black ink on white. No colour.

Handling

Crosshatched faces against ruled flags and lecterns, and the last panel laid in as solid brushed black with rain or static scratched through it. Three panels of line and one of dark.

Medium and support

Ink on paper, drawn as a cartoon for the show.

Signature

Lettered ROTC TOONS at the lower left with the artist's name and a date in MMDDYY at the right.
