Moustached cowboy in a wide-brimmed hat

A long-haired, heavily moustached man in a wide-brimmed hat, cigarette in his mouth, seen full face — a cowboy drawn as caricature.
Upright and centred, the head filling the sheet with the hat brim cut by the top and side edges. Flat panels of orange and blue sit behind the head as a ground rather than as any setting.
Viridian and sap green through the face against hair and moustache in cadmium yellow, with vermilion in the shirt and the hat band and cobalt in the panel behind. The whole picture is built on unmixed complementaries.
Drawn first in a dense unhesitating pen line and washed afterwards, with the colour laid inside the drawing but never registering exactly with it. The moustache and hair are hatched in line, not modelled in paint.
Watercolour with pen and ink on sketchbook paper. Transparent throughout.
No signature visible within the drawn area.
