Miami cat crossing

A cat crossing an empty street at sunset in a city of towers, throwing a long shadow back across the asphalt, watched from the right by a figure standing on the kerb. The sun sits low and full between the buildings at the end of the street.
A one-point perspective straight down the roadway with the vanishing point under the sun, the buildings closing in as black masses either side. The cat is tiny and dead centre on the road; the standing figure is large and cropped at the right edge, which sets the two scales against each other.
Magenta and gold in the sky against cold turquoise and green through the roadway, with the architecture laid in near-black. The warm and cold halves meet along the horizon with no transition.
Brush and ink, with the buildings struck in as solid black and their windows reserved or dropped in hot. The road is one broad wet wash worked wet-into-wet, and the shadows are single confident strokes.
Watercolour and ink on sketchbook paper, photographed as a page with the edge of the sheet showing.
No signature within the painted area.
