Mersh talking to superheroes

An open sketchbook on a work table with two brushes lying beside it, showing two finished panels. In the first Mersh stands beside Batman asking whether he has got a good tax guy; in the second he is between two more costumed figures saying his lighter of choice is the Rusty Wallace.
Photographed as an object rather than reproduced flat — the book is tipped on the table with the wire binding running up the left and the brushes placed along the lower left corner. The two panels sit side by side within it.
Cobalt and midnight through the first panel against sunlit green and orange in the second, so the two read as night and day across the gutter.
Ink contour with washes inside it, the costumed figures given more modelling than Mersh, who stays flat — the same trick used elsewhere in the strip to make him the ordinary man in the frame.
Watercolour and ink in a spiral-bound sketchbook, photographed on the work table.
Dated at the upper right of the sheet.
