Memorial Day barbecue
A sketchbook page drawn off the show. A man in a tank top stands at the left holding a pistol overhead with a cat on his shoulder and a rifle propped against his leg; a woman beside him laughs, and behind them a cookout is in full swing with a grill, a table and a crowd of small figures.
The two principals stand large in the foreground at the left and the party recedes to the right at half their size, so the sheet reads as a portrait with a scene attached rather than a scene with people in it.
Black ink on white. No colour.
Open contour throughout with almost no fill, drawn quickly on a spiral-bound pad. The laughter is lettered along the top right in plain capitals rather than given a balloon.
