Marie, I need my squirty bottle
Royce at the barbecue in a ball cap, pink vest and shorts, one arm thrown out as he shouts for his squirty bottle, with the smoker open beside him and a drink on the shelf. The line is hand-lettered across the top of the sheet rather than put in a balloon.
The figure fills the upper left and the equipment the lower right, with the lettering taking the strip of paper above his raised hand. The drawing sits on the page with the sketchbook's wire binding running across the top.
Pink and teal through his clothes against a flat green ground, with the smoker in warm greys. The food inside it is the only brown.
Ink contour with light washes, the figure given more colour than the setting. The grill and its fittings are drawn carefully where the figure is drawn fast.
Watercolour and ink in a spiral-bound sketchbook, photographed as a page.
